October, 2011
Dear Supporter of the Arts,
It is with heavy hearts that we impart our news to the community. Because of budget issues, the 2011-2012 season at Chanticleer Theater, without a community supported effort, will be its last.
Chanticleer Theater has been an asset to Council Bluffs and southwest Iowa since 1952. The theater has offered hundreds of affordable comedies, dramas and musicals on a professional stage for the enjoyment of its patrons for sixty years. It has utilized the talents of local citizens and provided opportunities for involvement for thousands of adults and children over the years.
The Board of Directors of the theater have attempted fundraisers; the staff has written dozens of grant applications to private foundations and state and regional offices; businesses have been contacted; verbal appeals have been made at performances. Although many loyal patrons have stepped up and offered donations, unfortunately, it is not enough to ensure another season at the theater.
We, the Board of Directors of Chanticleer Theater, are fervently committed to work together in appealing to our community for help. Our immediate need is $125,000 in order to be able to produce the 2012-2013 full season. To ensure long-term sustainability, we must establish an endowment fund of at least 1.2 million dollars.
We hope that you share our concern that an invaluable arts organization in our hometown may come to an end. We have been privileged to have this organization in Council Bluffs and we are pleading with you to help us as we seek ways to keep the doors open.
Please consider making a donation; your assistance is crucial. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
Remember.....Chanticleer is your community theater. Thank you so much for your past support.
Very sincerely yours,
Board of Directors of Chanticleer Theater

There are no currently scheduled upcoming auditions.
Please consider donating to the Save Chanticleer Fund to ensure that there will be future opportunities to audition for shows at the Chanticleer Community Theater.
Chanticleer is Proud to Present Its 2011-2012 Season
